Senja-fuda are name plates traditionally placed at shrines and temples as a sign of one’s visit. Edo-style lettering—developed more than 300 years ago—remains central to their design.
This workshop is led by Hiroyuki Masuda, who brings over 30 years of experience as a type designer. Participants will create an original Senja-fuda using adapted Edo-style lettering, while learning about Japanese calligraphic techniques and type design.
Experience a hands-on introduction to Japanese typography and cultural tradition in this special session.
